Alt Rock Live Concert Reviews

Weezer, Angels & Airwaves, and Tokyo Police Club at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA - September 23, 2008

Score: 8/10
We missed Tokyo Police Club, the opening band, but from what we've heard we didn't miss much. Angels and Airwaves put on an incredible performance and set a great mood. Atom Willard impressed us with his drumming style and is without a doubt much better than the drummer for Weezer. At one point in their performance Tom Delonge put on laser goggles and shined them into the crowd. Weezer put on a spectacular performance as well. They changed outfits two or three times throughout the night and the their songs were great. One thing to note was when they performed "Beverly Hills" with a whole bunch of students from Berklee College of Music. The idea was ambitious and creative, but ultimately we felt that it didn't really add much to the show. Another interesting point was when Tom Delonge came on stage and Atom Willard performed on the drums for "The Sweater Song" which was great.

Things that kept this from getting a 10 included: the opening band was nothing special, Weezer put on a great performance but it felt to us like they could've done better.
