Score: 10/10
Warped Tour 2010 was the best Warped Tour we have ever experienced (even though we've only been to one previous year), and judging from the amazing time we had we doubt next year will be able to match it. It was the most intense, fun-filled, action-packed, (good) music-filled, fun time any of us could've asked for. Aside from traffic and a few minor dissapointments that were more than made up for we have no complaints. Arriving at the festival, we noticed right away that the tour was absolutely packed, it was almost like the whole place was one big pit. We checked out some of the booths, got some free stuff, and headed on over to see our first band, Four Year Strong. They put on an amazing show and where a great way to start off the day. Throughout the rest of the day we checked out tons of other bands like The Bouncing Souls, All American Rejects, Set Your Goals, Alesana, and VersaEmerge, all having top-notch performances. We would also like to point out that Alkaline Trio was up there as one of our favorite acts of the night.
We spent a good majority of our time in the press area in between sets and during smaller ones to hang out and meet the people that make Warped Tour so great: the musicians. We sat down for interviews with Sierra Kusterbeck and Blake Harnage of VersaEmerge, Greg Attonito from The Bouncing Souls, Joe Weiss and Josh Lyford of Four Year Strong, Derek Sanders of Mayday Parade,Tony Thaxton of Motion City Soundtrack, members of Flatfoot 56, and more. We were intending to do an interview with Sum 41 but they left early because some idiot interviewer was bugging them. All in all the interviews that we did do came out great and we hope you check them out because some of them are really interesting.
We ended the night with the biggest reason we came here for: Sum 41. It's always been a dream of ours to see them play, and they put on a performance so amazing that it could only be rivaled by Blink 182. They played songs like "Fat Lip", "In Too Deep", "The Bitter End", "We're All To Blame", and more. I spent the whole concert in the pit and somehow made it out alive as people were getting launched like rockets to the front and dancing like crazy. Hearing one of our favorite bands play the songs we grew up listening to was a dream come true, and when Sum 41 finished they left us screaming for more. The show was so great that it made up for the missed interview. We left after that quite content with the day's happenings.
With all the free stuff, cool music, crazy dancing and good ol' times it's no wonder so many people go to Warped Tour. The lineup this year was incredible, especially because of big name bands like Alkaline Trio, The All-American Rejects, and of course Sum 41. Complimented by smaller name bands that played strong and captured our attention, it's going be tough to top what they brought to the plate this year. I have to give this whole day an 11 simply because Sum 41's performance raised the bar that high. That aside the whole day was nothing but fun and will surely hold great memories for the team here at AltRockLive.
