Dr. Acula's breakdowns are well placed and sound tight. They throw in your occasional dirties but what band isn't these days? Even better are the bass drops. Dr. Acula's bass drops are consistent in every song and are well placed. I found myself waiting for each drop, and when it did I had to check to see if my sub woofer wasn't completely blown out. Dr. Acula has two vocalists, Tyler Guida and Casey Carrano. Both seem to have good range between their highs and lows. "Party 2.0" is definitely a song that highlights the bands vocals. Most of their lyrics you can hear pretty clearly right off the bat if your used to metal vocals, but I read along with everything just for the hell of it.
The only negative thing I have to say about Slander is that the lyrics are repeated too many times throughout the songs. This builds suspense, but where they could do something else clever they keep repeating themselves over and over. I found this annoying and felt like it was used only to make their songs longer. Other than that one bad thing I'll be blasting all of Slanders songs, head banging to every breakdown, and laughing at the art throughout the album. Cartoon images of celebrity scandals/highlights can be seen on the cover and through the booklit. I give this album a 8/10. Dr. Acula did a good job with this album and I can't wait to see them live!
Buy this album and merch to support artists. They can't keep making music if they don't make money!
