The Discovery is amazing. This is another contender for album of the year. BOO did an amazing job with this album but it still had it's cons. The album opens with Follow The Signs. They already released the single online but it is still one of the best songs off of here. The solo at the end melted my face off and I raped my replay button immensely. BOO has kept an Egyptian feel throughout their last 3 albums and it still hasn't gotten old. It is one of their trademarks and I give them credit for being able to do it for this long. The guitar work through this album is astounding. Devastate, Automatic Motion, Last Straw and XIV are some highlights. Those are also probably a few of the best songs. I found some of the songs to get boring. A boring song can still have pros to it.
Behold is not only the best song off the album but it's the best BOO song ever. It is a cliff hanger from the beginning. Jason Richardson and Lee Mckinney almost out did themselves on guitar. The album should come with a warning telling you to wear a pair of depends just for this song. The eccentricity blew my mind. Cameron Losch also kept a great rhythm in the drum department not only on behold but in every song for that matter. Songs like these really show BOO's creative minds clashing together to make a masterpiece that will last forever in their fans hearts.
If I can have some thing to say negatively about this album is the interludes. Interludes are a trademark of BOO as well. Maybe it's just me but I find them to just be fillers. XIV is an interlude technically and that was my favorite because it had some awesome guitar in it. Also songs such as Regenerate and Shaping The Master Piece had some hip hop beats thrown into them. A New Reign did this as well and I just find it weird to throw in a beat at the end of a song. I also found the length of the album to be almost too long. With 15 songs and a few of them being boring I honestly thought it took me away from it. At the same time though your getting about an hours worth of material so how can you complain?
Regardless this is a great album everyone. The mixing and production is top notch and this album is very inspiring. I am not a die hard Born Of Osiris fan so I had those little things to complain about but I like them enough to support them. This album is a solid 8/10 for me.
I know the album leaked a week ago but honestly I urge everyone to buy albums. Bands need support from record companies to survive.
