Anberlin has always impressed me and drawn me in with their music. Their music has its own style and even if I tried, I couldn't compare them to anyone else. Almost three years ago I attended my first Anberlin concert and since then I have become a huge fan of their awesome music. Currently I have a large mix of songs from the albums Blueprints For The Black Market, Never Take Friendship Personal, Cities, New Surrender and now Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place. I honestly can't pick a favorite out of them because there's just too many songs I love off each album.

The album starts off with the song "We Owe This To Ourselves" which I believe is a great opener song to this album. After listening to just that first song I could tell that this album was going to be much different then the rest, and I was right. Since it was very different, I wasn't too crazy about the album to start off with. In addition, I received the opinion of a few family and friends who are also Anberlin fans and they had the same to say about it. I suppose it was just a new Anberlin I wasn't quite ready but that was about to change.

Not long after a couple of listens, I found myself putting the album on repeat for long car rides or just while on my computer. I especially listened to songs like "Impossible", "Take Me (As You Found Me)", and "You Belong Here" which have now become my favorites off Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place. Of all the tracks, "Impossible" is my favorite because of it's slightly more upbeat sound. "Take Me (As You Found Me)" is another great song that has even given me the chills while listening. I feel that it's a great ballad for the album and totally something I'd expect from Anberlin. The song that surprised me most off this album was "You Belong Here". The first few times I listened to it I flipped back to iTunes to check and see who it was I was listening to. The intro to the song had such power and sound that just didn't sound like the Anberlin I was used to but I loved it. For many songs, I would play it, then immediately play it again because I hadn't quite had enough. In other words, this album is addictive.

In my opinion, Anberlin has done an amazing job with Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place and I really hope that it is very successful for them. It's has a darker, deeper, meaningful feel to it which may be a confusing way of putting it but in a single word, it's epic. The changes on this album show a very new and different side of Anberlin that I think we were all ready to hear from them. Anberlin is an awesome band that never fails to impress me with their great music. Dark Is The Way, Light Is A Place is an album that's definitely worth getting so if you haven't already, head over to your local music store or itunes store and get yourself a copy.
